WORKSHOP 1 : CHARISMATIC BUSINESS SPEAKING

"Every time you have to speak you are auditioning for leadership" James Humes

THE ABILITY TO CONVINCE IS CRUCIAL
Presentations, meetings, negotiations, conventions, interviews… leaders today must be skilled communicators. The ability to convince, trigger motivation, rally collaborators, is an essential ingredient of leadership, crucial to success and company image.

Good communicators are people who are genuine, natural, yet most of them have acquired techniques - techniques which remain undetectable but which boost their ability to convince and enhance their charisma.

THE TECHNIQUES
They are mainly designed to address your audience’s subconscious triggers. What you generate at the subconscious level determines the success or failure of your communication.

Shaping : shaping is leading edge preparation to make your message irresistible . Define your strategy, structure your message, uncover and eradicate obstacles, identify and boost positive triggers -and choose the language that will definitely spark off interest and motivation.

Staging : making YOU irresistible
Staging is about becoming exquisite in how you use your body, gestures, expressions, voice, to accompany and support your message. Staging is what hooks your audience, establishes your credibility, generates sympathy, provokes admiration : staging is about You.

Establish and maintain your credibility in all communication situations

WORKSHOP 2 : CONVINCING AND INFLUENCING IN DIFFICULT SITUATIONS

"Napoleon : his presence on the field made the difference of forty thousand men." Duke of Wellington

You have acquired the skills to convey your proposals and ideas with success. But what if the stakes are high, or the competition is tough, or the audience is particularly challenging or potentially hostile ?

More than ever in those situations do you need to make a difference, more than ever do you need to leave a strong mark if you want to inspire and convince. You can now do this and dramatically increase your impact by adding to your skills the powerful techniques of Dialectics. “Invented” by Greek philosophers at the time of Socrates and Plato, rediscovered and enriched by the latest discoveries in communication, these techniques are particularly useful :
in negotiations
in high stake presentations
in sensitive or difficult meetings
in tough interviews

Dialectics will give you leading edge advantage in the design of arguments, using powerful figures of speech. “Jousting of the mind”, this method also develops the skills of repartee in order to parry abrupt objections, destabilizing comments, or aggressive criticism.

OBJECTIVES
Learn to handle powerful influencing techniques in order to take the lead and convince in high stake or challenging environments. This entails developing the ability to :
Prepare for the event and select the most relevant dialectic figures
Identify specifically what is going on when confronted
Decide on the best behaviour and repartee in the circumstances

APPROACH
Video extracts from television debates and interviews, will allow participants to identify the different figures and their impact, as well as identify the different parries and their effect.
Skill practice in identifying figures and delivering figures, and role plays, filmed and debriefed, will allow participants to apply the techniques and test their power. Participants choose specific professional or business situations they wish to practice on.

CONTENT
Dialectic techniques as a strategic tool : what is their purpose ? how do they work? when to use them?
Building a state of mind and getting ready for action : the keys to success
Theory of roles : be it consciously or subconsciously, in which role will the audience cast you ? in which roles will opponents try to trap you ? in which role do you cast yourself ? in which role do you cast your audience ?…Identifying the pitfalls and transforming them to your advantage
Thinking “out of the box” : changing logic, looking at things from a different perspective and “jumping” out of the frame to startle the audience and create powerful effects
The crucial impact of your non-verbal behaviours : how they can totally destroy your image. How to make them work for you instead of against you !
The different figures at work : how to use them to score points, how to recognize them when used against you, how to turn them to your advantage and take the lead, how to ward off attacks and develop powerful repartee.
